Penang Records Over 4,000 HIV/AIDS and STI Cases in Five Years
According to official data, Penang recorded 1,715 HIV/AIDS cases and 2,315 sexually transmitted infection (STI) cases between 2021 and 2025. On average, this represents more than two reported infections per day.
The 20–29 age group accounted for the highest number of cases, making young adults the most affected demographic. HIV, AIDS and STI infections were all significantly more common among this age group.
